Topic of the Month: Cybersecurity Awareness and Upcoming Regulations
Topic of the month: (topic SWITCH!) We’ll use this months meetup as a social, celebrating the October cyber security awareness month. We’ll get the chance to talk about awareness initiatives, and how they can be utilized to bring awareness and drive security forward. We’ll also look regulation kicking in this month, the NIS2 directive from EU, and the Dutch Cyber Security Act ( Cyberbeveiligingswet – Cbw), coming up (yes we’re behind), to implement the directive at national level. And most importantly, how we can use regulation and compliance (carrot, stick anyone?) to help drive security forward! And as always talk about upcoming conferences (WICCON, CCC, and happening now hardwear.io & hack.lu!)
The original planned topic is moved to the November meetup (28/11): Predictive based threat detection! Using various methods including machine learning, understand the threat level a possible target (e.g. device) might have, and what type of attacks it might be prone to, and proactively take measures (deter, detect, defend).
FYI: we’re also meeting irregularly this month, on the 4th Thursday of the month, and not on the last Thursday! This is in support to WICCON conference happening on the last Thursday, 31/10, and yes, we can have a SecTalks get-together on that day as well at the conference venue for whoever manages to join!

Let’s meet for an informative session where you can ask security experts any questions you have in your mind no mater how basic or advanced that is. Every month we try to have a different topic, and there’s always time to discuss anything important to you as well!

✔️ Every LAST Thursday of the month 18:30 at CIC Rotterdam, (along the Venture Cafe / GHG drinks); SecTalks continues as usual & we still meet at the same place! Doors open at 17:30 – drinks and snacks provided!

SecTalks takes place at the CIC innovation community – and part of the Venture Cafe Rotterdam gathering which is now (temporarily?) on halt.
Doors for SecTalks open at 17:30 we have drinks (and some snacks). SecTalks session starts at 18:30. If you are there earlier, drop a line so we can connect and socialize more.
